Apple Crisp Macchiato

Here is the latest in Sweet Bean’s kitchen! Try our apple crisp macchiato made with homemade apple molasses brown sugar coffee syrup, milk, and shots of espresso. Try this hot or iced depending on how you are feeling. As always, we would love to see and hear from you about how your own coffee creation.

Apple Crisp Macchiato

prep time: 5 minutes

cook time: 30 minutes

total time: 35 minutes

Ingredients

For syrup:

  • 3/4 cup water

  • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar

  • 1 tablespoon unsulphured molasses

  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1 tart apple peel

For iced coffee:

  • Ice

  • 2 tablespoons apple crisp syrup

  • 3/4 cup milk

  • 1 shot espresso

  • Cinnamon sugar, for topping, optional

  • Caramel syrup, for topping, optional

For hot coffee:

  • 2 tablespoons apple crisp syrup

  • 3/4 cup milk, steamed

  • 1 shot espresso

  • Cinnamon sugar, for topping, optional

  • Caramel syrup, for topping, optional

Instructions

For syrup:

  1. In a small pot add water, dark brown sugar, molasses, cinnamon, and apple peel.

  2. Cook over medium-high heat until bubbling and reduce down by half.

  3. The syrup mixture should be slightly viscous but not thick like syrup.

  4. Let cool, remove the apple peel, and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.


For iced drink:

  1. Fill a glass with ice.

  2. Add syrup and top with milk.

  3. Pour espresso shot over the milk.

  4. Top with cinnamon sugar and caramel syrup, optional.

  5. Stir to combine and enjoy.


For hot drink:

  1. Add apple crisp syrup to a coffee mug.

  2. Pour in steamed milk.

  3. Pour espresso shot over the steamed milk.

  4. Top with cinnamon sugar and caramel syrup, optional.

  5. Gently stir to combine and enjoy.

Yield: 1/2 cup syrup, 1 drink
